For dramatic brightness, nothing rivals the flamboyant Oriental Poppy. In late spring and early summer, when many bulbs have faded and summer perennials have yet to appear, the large 4-8" flowers of the Oriental poppy create bright spots of colour. They are extremely hardy and do well in almost any soil, tolerating dry spells. They are stunning planted in large masses by themselves, but work just as well in mixed perennial borders in full sun. Deer resistant.
